A couple of days ago, LG Mobile USA tweeted that “the world’s 1st phone with Quad HD display is here”, obviously talking about its new G3 (pictured above). While it’s true that the G3 is the first Quad HD handset made by a major company, as well as the first that’s widely available, it’s certainly not the first in the world to feature a screen with a 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution. Vivo Xplay 3S was the first, and the Oppo Find 7 was the second (Vivo and Oppo are brands owned by the same China-based company called BBK Electronics).

To make sure that people know the G3 isn’t really the first Quad HD smartphone, Oppo replied to LG on Twitter:

Oops, care to use "2nd phone with Quad HD display is here" instead? Eh... doesn't have the same ring to it. Or you know… the actual number. 3rd place is still nice.

LG didn’t reply back yet.

Of course, the LG G3 is a pretty awesome device even if it’s not the very first to offer a Quad HD display. To learn more about it, read our LG G3 review here.
